CRAWL SPACE REPAIR

Crawl spaces often have problems because they are located below ground level and are typically exposed to the soil inside the foundation. Because they are prone to moisture and temperatures fluctuate, it can cause the wood in the crawl space to expand and contract, resulting in cracks and other damage.

Arrow Foundation Repair utilizes trusted systems to restore homes and properties whose crawl spaces have been affected by hydrostatic pressure, moisture, and humidity. As with a full basement foundation wall, helical & steel push piers are common methods used by Arrow Foundation Repair to address settling of homes with crawl space foundations. Other solutions include:

Crawl Space Jack

Crawl Space Jacks, or “support posts,” work alongside the girders that support floor joists. Support posts enable you to boost up your foundation and return your home to its original position.

Jacks are sometimes used as a tool during foundation repair, like piering, to help lift the home while the foundation is restored. Other times, jacks are used as a permanent solution when the foundation is past the point of restoration, allowing the home to be safe and secure again.

Vapor Barrier

Vapor barriers are plastic liners that cover the dirt floor in crawl spaces. The purpose of a vapor barrier is to slow down moisture and vapors in the soil from getting into the crawl space. In conjunction with stabilization systems such as piering and jacks, vapor barriers are an important element of repair for keeping moisture at bay because it keeps moisture from seeping up through the flooring into your home, prevent mold build-up, decreases probability of bug infestation, and provides extra insulation to improve a home's energy efficiency.

Aside from being an aid in repair work, vapor barriers are a preventative product as well. Likelihood of foundation and property damage can be greatly reduced through installation of these barriers.
